1960's style acetate Panto eyeglasses with keyhole bridge. Hand made in Italy.

The Panto frame was first introduced in the 1920's. In form and size, it corresponds to the human eye-socket and the eye sits in the upper third of the glasses, the ideal lens placement for giving an optimal field of vision.
With the new Panto shape, one could see "all" (Panto = from the Greek: all, completely, entirely).
Almost all eyeglasses previously had been very small, with round or ovoid shaped leses. T
oday the name Panto is given to almost any glasses with a round shape, flattened frame at the top, and peaked temples.
