These vintage frames with a matter-of-fact design hail from Germany’s Brandt era made in West Germany.

This model was produced by the traditional French manufacturer Essel (now Essilor), whose patent for “Nylor” glasses secured their place in eyewear history.
In Nylor glasses, the lenses are secured to the frame by a transparent nylon thread and appear to float. Passionate wearers of this type of frame include Bauhaus architect Max Bill.
